As for myself, I started off with a portfolio on Crevado.com. This was free and easy to use. I then created one on Dribbble.com because I was trying to create a different type of portfolio focused on trying to get accepted into Creative Market.
My portfolio was just the right one since I was finally accepted to open a shop on Creative Market. Check out my shop here.
My current Portfolio is focused entirely on illustrations and surface design products. I feel I need a separate one for just that. So here I am working on my Squarespave portfolio. Every step takes time, learning, and implementing.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey.
